Growing up in a gangster neighborhood, Ah Fei (played by Tony Leung) and Ah Ki (played by Jacky Cheung) have a friendship spanning over twenty years. With dreams of the gangster life, the two merely bumble through their days: escaping from confrontations and stealing gold watches from the corpses of their bosses without a hint of shame. Ah Fei and Ah Ki possess a peculiar trait that causes their bosses to meet tragic fates, as each of their former bosses ends up dead at the hands of the gang leader Guan Gong (played by Tommy Tam). For a time, they earn the title of "boss killers," and even their friend Bo Ge (played by Eric Tsang) dares not take them in. Forced to exit the gang life, they borrow money to start a trading company, but their first deal turns into a scheme to trick Singaporean woman Ah Zhen (played by Yuang Yongyi) into selling herself. Unable to force a good person into prostitution, the two create a ruckus in the underworld and are taken away by Guan Gong's subordinates at a life-and-death moment. It turns out that the fate-believing Guan Gong wants to use their hard fate to overcome calamity. Thus, after years of struggling in the underworld, the two finally welcome their day of redemption...
