In the late Qing Dynasty, when the European football team, the Pirates, came to China, they played a match against the team from foreign embassies stationed in China. The match attracted a large crowd of citizens and court officials. After the Pirates won, team captain Harry, in an attempt to make his girlfriend Jenny smile, kicked the ball forcefully towards the onlookers and officials. Just as the foreigners were laughing, a strong man named Zhou Tian (played by Zhang Fengyi) jumped out of the crowd and skillfully returned Harry's challenge. Seeing this, Jenny encouraged Harry to challenge the Chinese side, leading to an impending showdown between Chinese and foreign football teams. It turns out Zhou Tian is a progressive youth who once studied at Oxford University and served as a compiler at the Qing Dynasty Hanlin Academy. He understands that it is difficult to make a stand for the Chinese people with his strength alone, so he sets out to find local football heroes to bring glory to his country.
