Within a few days, three unrelated celebrities—a movie star, a dancer, and a diving champion—smiled and unexpectedly died, causing quite a stir in society. Meanwhile, the quirky and spirited young police officer Wang Bu'er (played by Wen Zhang) teams up with the seasoned veteran Huang Feihong (played by Jet Li) to solve the case, leading to numerous mishaps that frustrate their boss Angela (played by Michelle Chen).
