Visconti's segment features Romy Schneider as a beautiful young woman who designs a plan to take revenge on her husband by pretending to be his mistress, making him pay to win her back; De Sica's segment tells the story of a timid man who wins a prize, which is a date with a girl; Monicelli's segment has been removed from many international versions for its more traditional comedic style, being rather understated and easily overshadowed by its counterparts; but the standout is still Fellini's segment, titled "The Temptation of Dr. Anthony," in which a voluptuous beauty comes to life from a poster, mocking a hypocritical ascetic man. Behind the scenes: Four heavyweight Italian directors capture the spirit of Boccaccio in their own styles, setting a grand tableau in Rome. Although it's just a short film, Fellini tells the story that exposes the hypocritical moral standards of the upper class in a light-hearted yet weighty tone. Dr. Anthony is a character worth exploring as he feels powerless in the face of value collapse and moral decay, attempting to cover his inner desires with a mask of hypocrisy. However, when the gigantic female figure steps out of the advertisement to join him in joy, his true nature is finally revealed. Fellini creates both absurdity and gravity through a technique of intertwining dreams and reality, making a deep impression in this film.
