The ferocity and mystery of tornadoes have drawn many scientists to conduct in-depth research. Venturing into the heart of a storm is the most dangerous act, yet it is also the most effective way to explore tornadoes. Joe (played by Helen Hunt) and her ex-husband Bill (played by Bill Paxton) are the type of "storm chasers" who, despite their broken relationship and Bill having a new girlfriend, decide to pursue a hurricane in Oklahoma out of their obsession with tornado research.
