In the martial arts world, the rivalry between two martial arts families has lasted for hundreds of years, until a highly skilled warrior (played by Zhang Dongjian) from the tragic family emerges. He bloodily wipes out the adversary and eliminates the significant threat to his master (played by Di Long). After the massacre, the warrior chooses to retreat into seclusion, taking with him a baby, the last surviving bloodline of the enemy family, as he flees to the American West evading the relentless pursuers sent by his master as punishment for his betrayal. In a desolate small town in the West, the warrior inherits a laundromat from a friend. Sealing his sword, he begins to attempt to integrate into ordinary life. The local knife-throwing performer, Lin En (played by Kate Bosworth), loses her parents to bandits. Surviving the tragedy, she trains hard in knife-throwing to seek vengeance. Their similar pasts draw the warrior and Lin En closer together, and teaching Lin En martial arts becomes the warrior's main activity besides his work. Soon, the bandits attack the town once more, and under the warrior's leadership, the former sharpshooter Ronald (played by Geoffrey Rush) and other residents prepare to fight to the death against the gang. Meanwhile, the warrior's master-led pursuit team is racing towards them...
