Lin Weidong was diagnosed with cancer. To raise funds for his brother Weiliang to study medicine abroad, he assisted the private criminal Zhao in robbing a batch of diamonds. After successfully obtaining the diamonds, he hid the real ones and swapped them for fake ones to give to Zhao. Once Zhao discovered this, he killed Lin. For the purpose of retrieving the diamonds, Zhao set up a scheme, portraying Weiliang as a murder suspect, and arranged for his Japanese female subordinate to rescue him, hiding him and treating his gunshot wound.
