After being separated from his mother during childhood, young Billy (Asher Angel) moves between multiple foster homes, yet he remains determined to reunite with her. When he ends up in another large family of foster children, he accidentally finds himself in an unknown realm and becomes the heir of an ancient wizard. When he shouts “Shazam,” he instantly transforms into the superhero Shazam (Zachary Levi), with the body of a strong adult. Billy is thrilled and shares this joy with his new brother—Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer), who has a leg disability. The two upload videos showcasing their superpowers online, spreading their excitement far and wide. As a result, the sinister Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) comes knocking.
