Detective Matt (played by Gérard Depardieu) has a direct and effective approach to solving cases, which has caused dissatisfaction among his superiors. However, he has recently gotten into even bigger trouble: his close colleague Frank is suspected of collaborating with drug lords. Although Matt has heard about Frank's connections to criminals, he hasn't involved himself too deeply. Frank reveals to Matt his plan codename "Diamond 13" and invites the financially troubled Matt to join him, while the discipline inspection department begins monitoring Matt's daily life. Soon, Frank is murdered, and since Frank's last phone call was to Matt, the drug lords swiftly come after him for the money Frank stole. With the discipline inspection department suspending him, Matt is isolated and helpless, watching as friends around him are killed one by one. During his dealings with the drug lords, Matt receives new clues and realizes that Frank's death is far more complicated than it seems; a web of high-level police corruption starts to unfold...
