In the 19th century, Romania had a mysterious area where humans coexisted with ghosts—the ancient town of Transylvania. In this town, an evil force ruled the region after dark, led by the vampire Dracula (Richard Roxburgh). They emerged at night to slaughter, using exceptionally cruel methods. Even more terrifying, this group continued to grow, with the bloodthirsty Frankenstein not far behind in joining Dracula. The Catholic Church of Romania, after several failed attempts to eradicate the evil, turned to the United States to enlist vampire hunter Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman). On his way to Transylvania with his assistant, Van Helsing coincidentally saved another vampire huntress—Anna (Kate Beckinsale).
