In the late 20th century, the assassin organization "Eight Hundred Dragons" grew powerful, and its leader, Lei Qilong, faced betrayal from Ji Qiutang (played by Liu Xun). Unable to counter this, he led his subordinates to Moscow to find the retired contact "Table Tennis" to quell the rebellion. Table Tennis lived in the north and adopted a son and a daughter, Yao Long (played by Tony Leung) and Ye Mumei (played by Maggie Cheung). Unable to withstand the two factions led by Lei Qilong and Ji Qiutang, Table Tennis chose to cooperate with Lei Qilong, luring Yao Long into the enemy's hands.
To eliminate Ji Qiutang, Lei Qilong rigorously trained the exceptionally talented Yao Long, who, after losing his memory, became his puppet. Fortunately, Lei Qilong's youngest daughter, Ziyan Zhu (played by Lizhi), kept him company and teased him. After training, Yao Long became a killing machine known as "Freeman" and helped Lei Qilong remove Ji Qiutang's influence. During this, Ye Mumei, who was desperately searching for him, discovered him, but they could not recognize each other. Miss Hu (played by Wu Jiali), the daughter of Ji Qiutang, collaborated with Officer Xintian (played by Sun Xing) to investigate the true identity of Freeman. Ye Mumei was taken away by Lei Qilong, and as Yao Long gradually regained his memory, he sought to reclaim what he had lost…
This film is adapted from the Japanese manga "Crying Killer."
