In the late 19th century, an extraordinary woman grew up in the water town of Shaoxing in Jiangnan. She was the daughter of Qiu Shounan, the former governor of Fujian, and her father's patriotism influenced her from a young age. In the years that followed, Qiu Jin consistently opposed feudal ethics, pursued gender equality, and harbored concerns for the nation and its people. Additionally, Qiu Jin (played by Huang Yi) was highly skilled in martial arts and well-versed in literature, but she felt powerless to change the state of China at the time. Since the defeat in the Opium War, the decaying Qing government had signed numerous humiliating unequal treaties with foreign powers, turning the ancient land of China into a lamb for slaughter. Her failed marriage and worries about her country's fate led Qiu Jin to ultimately break free from her constraints. She traveled to Japan for studies, where she met like-minded friends such as Xu Xilin and Chen Tianhua. Their fates would ebb and flow amid the tumultuous currents of a chaotic era…
