Undercover police officer Lao Zhang (played by Zhang Lixian) enjoys a hearty drink with a group of brothers at a banquet, expressing the bittersweet experiences of Beijing through song. They lurk among the bustling crowds, waiting for the right moment to strike and apprehend criminal offenders: whether it’s those stealing valuables using electronic interference with car locks, or those using disabled individuals as bait for scams, whether it's gangsters or flamboyant fortune tellers... none can escape Lao Zhang's keen eye. Lao Zhang's deeds even made it to a documentary on Beijing television. However, as criminals are captured one by one, Lao Zhang's heart is filled with confusion. He is an ordinary person, with elderly parents and children to care for. Years of hard work have caused Lao Zhang's health to decline; he suffers from asthma and high blood pressure, but he perseveres through his difficulties for the sake of catching thieves. Yet, there is always a persistent follower at his door, and a series of bizarre events continuously unfold, catching Lao Zhang and his brothers off guard... This film is adapted from the true story of police officer Zhang Huiling from the Shuangyushu Police Station of the Haidian branch in Beijing.
