Inspector Wen Fang (played by Leon Lai) has become irritable and strange since his wife's murder two months ago, often receiving complaints for being rough with suspects. During the investigation of a murder case involving a prostitute, Wen Fang meets Senior Inspector Ji Shaoqun (played by Richie Ren) from the Major Crime Unit and sends his team to help retrieve a stolen mobile phone. The investigation into the prostitute's murder intertwines with a firearms case, leading the Major Crime Unit and the team investigating the gun case to carry out a joint operation. However, the ambush is leaked, resulting in a fierce battle at a teahouse, where Wen Fang's subordinate is seriously injured. Officer Ji also arrives to assist in pursuing the suspect but is shot by the assailant during the chase. The preliminary suspect in the prostitute's murder case is identified as Major Crime Unit officer Gao Xiangan (played by Liao Qizhi), leading to Wen Fang’s suspension for shielding his subordinate. With help from many fellow officers, the Major Crime Unit captures the suspect described by Gao as wearing a fishing hat, who confesses to the murder. During the process of escorting the suspect, he manages to escape after injuring Xiangan. These consecutive incidents lead Wen Fang to suspect internal collusion within the police force.
