In the not-so-distant future, warmth is gone from Earth, and cold dominates every corner of the world. Surviving humans have all taken refuge in various shelters. At first, they lived joyfully and peacefully, but as food shortages and a deadly flu caused massive deaths, the situation fundamentally changed. Survivors cautiously extract seeds from plants for emergencies while also guarding against harm from their own kind. One day, Station Seven accidentally receives a distress signal from Station Five. To investigate and find usable equipment, Briggs decides to lead a team, and Sam follows along.
