Lau Kin Ming (Andy Lau) undergoes an internal investigation by the police force ten months after Chan Yong Ren (Tony Leung) is murdered. Stripped of his authority and facing family turmoil, his mental state deteriorates; however, he firmly believes that the situation will soon turn around.
