During the Qing soldiers' burning of Shaolin, the casualties in the temple were severe. Although Hong Xiguan (played by Chen Guantai) survived, he was seriously injured. He decided to temporarily lay low until he could make a comeback, but he found himself constantly pursued by officials during his escape. One day, while Hong Xiguan was entangled in fierce combat with the pursuing soldiers, Fang Shiyu (played by Fu Sheng) happened to pass by.
