On Christmas Eve, the weather is unusually hot, and the entire city is filled with an inexplicable sense of dread. The power station, operating under heavy load, is fraught with danger, and the fire department stands ready. The personal concerns of the firefighters add emotional entanglements to this "hard battle." He Yong Sen (played by Nicholas Tse), You Bang Chao (played by Daniel Wu), and Ye Zhi Hui (played by Andy On) are brothers who have shared life and death for ten years, but each harbors secrets: He Yong Sen, highly regarded, is transferred from the fire department, feeling dissatisfied; Ye Zhi Hui, skilled in interpersonal relationships, rises the fastest; and You Bang Chao, carefree and unfettered by personal matters, faces a troubled marriage. The hidden betrayal among the three brothers stretches their relationship to a breaking point. Meanwhile, mainland firefighter Hai Yang (played by Hu Jun) arrives and, as a "rookie" in the Hong Kong fire department, faces subtle challenges from veteran Pei Zong (played by Simon Yam), while he himself grapples with an unresolved emotional conflict. The crisis finally arrives when the power station explodes in flames, plunging Hong Kong into unprecedented darkness. A group of people is trapped in the sea of fire, hanging by a thread. Firefighters enter the pitch-black environment, battling deadly smoke while trying to save lives, all the while contending with internal strife and the top brass's cautious orders that arise unexpectedly. Is it "one life for another, saving one counts as one" or "obeying orders and prioritizing the greater good"? This fire not only demands rescue efforts but also serves as a redemption among brothers, dispelling the smoke that clouds their minds.
