Genius scientist Vasi (played by Rajnikanth) is obsessed with designing an intelligent robot, investing a lot of energy and emotion into it, resembling his own appearance. He teaches the robot various skills and keeps it by his side to help it adapt to society quickly, naming it "Chitti" (also played by Rajnikanth). Due to his work obsession, he neglects his girlfriend Sana (played by Aishwarya Rai), and to cheer her up, he agrees to let Chitti accompany him during his final exam revisions. At first, Chitti causes many humorous incidents, but over time, the versatile robot begins to showcase exceptional abilities in every aspect of life, developing feelings for Sana and gradually falling in love with her. Jealousy in love creates a rift between Vasi and Chitti, and Vasi's teacher seizes this opportunity to manipulate Chitti by inserting a virus chip that turns Chitti into a killing machine. An endless stream of Chitti robots emerges, plunging the world into chaos. Scientist Vasi teams up with the military to fight to save the original kind-hearted Chitti. This film cost approximately 1.65 billion rupees (around 35 million USD), making it the most expensive film in Bollywood history. It also set multiple "firsts" in the history of Indian cinema.
