In the 13th century, priests began to use the "Book of Solomon" to combat witches and demons. A hundred years later, after becoming famous for his extraordinary achievements in the Crusades, Knight Behman (played by Nicolas Cage) and his old partner Felson (played by Ron Perlman) grow weary of the brutality of war and return home. However, they find their town ravaged by plague. Due to their status as deserters, Behman and Felson are imprisoned. The local lord, acknowledging their merits, commissions them on behalf of the church to escort a witch to a monastery for trial. The escort team is comprised of Behman, Felson, a local priest, a knight, and a robber acting as a guide. The girl in the cage appears innocent and poses no threat, making it hard for Behman to believe she is the witch responsible for the plague. Along the way, a young knight joins their group, but inexplicable and bloody visions repeatedly emerge. Upon reaching their destination, Behman and his companions discover that all of this is part of a demonic conspiracy…
