The movie "Music Jianghu" tells the story of a group of graduates from a music academy, born in the 1980s, as they navigate their lives and emotional experiences after leaving campus while persistently pursuing their musical dreams. Several good friends from the music academy, Chen Hao, Zhou Mengmeng, Gu Li, and Ganzi, stepped into the world of music with dreams in their hearts. Gu Li manages his own band to perform everywhere, while Chen Hao, having failed to land a job despite submitting countless resumes, resorts to looking for work in bars, but they’re already taken. With no other options, Chen Hao ends up singing on a pedestrian bridge to earn rent and living expenses. Zhou Mengmeng's singing catches the attention of a company called Taoyuan Cultural, leaving a note for Chen Hao before disappearing… Wang Jingjing, a bar singer at the Hai Shang Paofoam bar, passes by the pedestrian bridge every day and listens to Chen Hao play his last original guitar piece, dropping ten yuan before leaving. After losing contact with Mengmeng, Chen Hao goes to the Hai Shang Paofoam bar every night to drink beer and eventually realizes that Wang Jingjing is the girl in a long dress who listens to him play guitar. They gradually become familiar, and Jingjing introduces Chen Hao to sing at Hai Shang Paofoam, helping him slowly emerge from Mengmeng's shadow… Under the threat of Mr. Han from Taoyuan Cultural, Mengmeng becomes his lover and texts Chen Hao to break up. During a practice session, Mengmeng is mocked by her teammates for being on her boss's bed, being called cheap and disgusting, which she can no longer bear, leading her to attempt suicide by wrist-cutting, ultimately saved by Mr. Han. Gu Li's band, the "Foolish People," catches the attention of a Chinese-American girl named Mina, who falls in love with Gu Li and follows him from the U.S. to China, wanting to marry him. Their senior Ganzi becomes a manager and lands a major gig to host a cultural exchange event. Ganzi invites Gu Li and Chen Hao to participate. Realizing the truth, Chen Hao runs out of the bar to find Jingjing by the sea. Jingjing vows that if he doesn’t come to find her again, she'll turn into foam on the sea and be with a mermaid. Chen Hao playfully responds that before becoming a mermaid, she might turn into a stone waiting for her husband on the shore. Jingjing laughs through her tears, and the two reconcile. Jingjing excitedly brings a newspaper to show Chen Hao, featuring an original singer competition where Mengmeng is the image ambassador.
