This is the last film before Chen Baozhu's farewell to the film industry. In the late 1960s, Chu Yuan had also filmed a series of fashion-themed heroic thief films for Baozhu. This film continues that pattern but is set in the early Republic of China, with the protagonist shifting from Baozhu to Yue Hua, resembling a variation of the character from "The Great Drunken Hero." He plays a slow-witted, stuttering detective in front of everyone, but in reality, he is the elusive and benevolent thief "Gecko," who robs from the rich to help the poor; Baozhu is his confidante and partner. The film features thrilling and lively treasure-heist banquets, comical misunderstandings with detectives, and a final life-and-death showdown between the hero and the villain, Lo Lieh.
