A rented house in Shanghai catches fire, and female medical professor Yu Shengnan (played by Qi Fang) discovers a suspicious corpse, prompting her to call for Detective Zhong Lang (played by Zhong Hanliang) and his partner Han Fei (played by Shi Xiaolong). After initial autopsy and scene investigation, Shengnan and Zhong Lang conclude that the victim was murdered before the fire.
