As a hitman, Robert (played by Sylvester Stallone) has his unshakeable principle: never kill innocents except for the target of the mission. Although he is in the same profession as Robert, Michael (played by Antonio Banderas) has a completely different view on life and death. He will stop at nothing to achieve his goals and sees the respected Robert as a thorn in his side, wanting to eliminate him swiftly. Robert, tired of a life filled with killing, decides to take on one last job and retire for good. Soon, the skilled Robert captures his target—a female thief named Ellie (played by Julianne Moore). Unfortunately, at this moment, Ellie and the two million dollar disk in her possession also become Michael's prey. As time passes, Robert gradually falls in love with Ellie, while the brutal Michael gets closer to them.
