The Qi Yi Circus is on tour in Malaysia, where the members accidentally hear news of a treasure left by the Japanese during World War II. Led by the knife-throwing expert Zhang Dachu (played by Zou Zhaolong), the group of five kills treasure hunters. A small-time character named Sunny (played by Aaron Kwok), who is eager to become a knife-throwing master, follows them and witnesses the entire crime committed by Dachu and his group. He is forced to descend into a cave with them, inadvertently activating a biochemical weapon left by the Japanese army. After unimaginable hardships, Sunny manages to escape but ends up in a bizarre state. Meanwhile, a series of robberies occur in Hong Kong. The assailants, unarmed and ruthless, are actually Zhang Dachu and others who have mutated due to gas exposure. This string of events shocks the entire city, prompting the police to invite experts from the mainland, Sun Hao (played by Wu Jing) and Cheng Xiuhua (played by Zhang Jingchu), to assist in the investigation.
