A chapter in China's modern history that is hard to look back on, narrated by the great director Zhang Che. In the late Qing Dynasty, the government was corrupt and the people were suffering. Empress Dowager Cixi and a group of ignorant and foolish high-ranking officials not only lacked the ability to resist the invasion of foreign powers or protect the people, but they also blindly believed in the "Boxer" movement, claiming that they were invincible and could resist foreigners, and decided to declare war on the powers. This ultimately led to the Eight-Nation Alliance capturing Beijing, with Empress Dowager Cixi fleeing in panic; the people then realized that only the revolutionary movement led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen was the only hope to save China. The film was shot on location in Taiwan, featuring grand war scenes and a cast of diamond-level actors, including the "evergreen tree of the film industry" Li Lihua as Empress Dowager Cixi, "Kung Fu Boy" Fu Sheng as the invulnerable Boxer hero Zeng Xianhan, the sensual Hu Jin as the famous courtesan Sai Jinhua, and singing star Chen Yi as Sai Jinhua's sister Xiao Ju, depicting a patriotic and tragic song of heroism.
