Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence), the Girl on Fire, survives despite her home being destroyed. Gale (played by Liam Hemsworth) also escapes, Katniss's family is safe, but Peeta (played by Josh Hutcherson) has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 does not really exist, a rebellion has emerged, new leaders are rising, and the curtain of revolution is slowly being drawn back. Katniss escapes from the nightmarish arena by design; she is a participant in the rebellion, also by design, without her knowledge. District 13 has emerged from hiding and plans to overthrow the Capitol's rule. It seems everyone is involved in this meticulously planned operation, while Katniss remains in the dark. The rebellion draws Katniss into a whirlpool; she is forced to become a pawn, responsible for the mission of many, and tasked with changing the future of Panem. To achieve this, she must let go of her anger and mistrust; she must become the Mockingjay of the rebels—no matter the cost.
