The story takes place 1500 years ago when Vortigern (Jude Law) betrays his brother King Uther (Eric Bana), disrupting the balance between humans and wizards that has lasted for centuries. Fortunately, Uther's only heir escapes, ensuring that his bloodline does not come to an end. Fifteen years pass in the blink of an eye, and a small baby named Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) grows up at the bottom of society, unaware of his true heritage. After killing his brother, Vortigern seizes power and rules with an iron fist, leaving the people struggling. In a chance encounter, Arthur pulls a sword deeply embedded in a giant stone, a sword that, according to legend, can only be lifted by someone of royal blood. This news quickly reaches Vortigern, and Arthur is arrested.
