After her fiancé Daisuke (Leslie Cheung) dies in a traffic accident in Hong Kong, Hitomi (Kikuchi Rika) believes she has lost her happiness, and her quality of life begins to decline significantly. To fulfill the promise she made with Daisuke in Hong Kong, she forces herself to collect her feelings and goes alone to Heartbroken City. Similarly, Hong Kong police officer Jiapao (Leslie Cheung) also has a sad past; his obsession with work led to his girlfriend being unable to bear the neglect and committing suicide. After his girlfriend's death, Jiapao chooses to go undercover, seeking to numb and torment himself with even more intense and thrilling work. After Hitomi meets Jiapao, she is confused because Jiapao looks exactly like Daisuke, igniting a beautiful longing within her, and the two wounded by love spark a romantic connection.
