During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a guerrilla squad was active along the railways in the Lincheng and Zaozhuang areas of southern Shandong. Under the leadership of Captain Liu Hong (Cao Huiqu) and Political Commissar Li Zheng (Feng Qi), the squad cooperated with the main forces to strike heavily against the Japanese army and was affectionately called the "Flying Tigers" by the local people. The Japanese army attempted various surprise attacks on the "Flying Tigers," which ultimately led to Liu Hong being injured. However, this allowed him to be cared for by the widow Fanglin Sao (Qin Yi), leading to a love story. After recovering, Liu Hong fought alongside Li Zheng to orchestrate a major defeat against the Japanese forces. Enraged, the Japanese planned to provoke Liu Hong through indiscriminate killings. Liu Hong fell into their trap and prepared to confront the Japanese army head-on at Weishan Lake, but thanks to Li Zheng's timely advice, the strength of the "Flying Tigers" was preserved. Once they regrouped, the "Flying Tigers" annihilated the Japanese forces along the railway, but Fanglin Sao was captured while on a reconnaissance mission.
