Henry (played by Alec Guinness) is a gold bullion transporter whose job is to load gold bars into an armored car and deliver them to various locations. This job is thrilling yet boring; nevertheless, Henry repeats this mechanical task for 20 years. One day, Henry suddenly decides that he no longer wants to lead such a dull life; he wants to pull off a major heist and live like a king, with a target of one million pounds worth of gold. In planning this heist, Henry, of course, brings along his old friend Alfred (played by Stanley Holloway). They decide to hide the stolen gold in miniature models of the Eiffel Tower to get it to France, but in the midst of the chaos, the batch of models is accidentally sold to a group of female students.
