In the summer of 1930, Han Ying (played by Wang Yuzhen), the secretary of the Party branch of Pengjiadun Township, and the captain Liu Chuang (played by Xia Kuibin), decided to retreat with the Red Guards based on strategic needs—using Han Ying's words, it was to retract their fists to strike the enemy more fiercely. The leader of the local militia organization, the Baijihui, Peng Batian (played by Chen Jinpeng), colluded with the security corps leader, Captain Feng (played by Cao Zangen), to regain their former power. Based on intelligence from Zhang, an undercover CPC worker (played by Xie Tian) infiltrating the enemy's security corps, Han Ying organized forces to severely strike the invading enemy. The enemy feigned a retreat, intending to launch a sneak attack. Han Ying saw through this conspiracy and led Liu Chuang to ambush. While covering the villagers, she unfortunately fell into enemy hands. Peng Batian captured Han Ying's mother (played by Liu ShuqI), hoping to soften Han Ying with the bond of mother and daughter; however, Han Ying resolutely expressed her noble sentiment that she would never surrender even if it meant sacrificing her life. But in the perilous environment of losing contact with their leaders, Liu Chuang began to become impatient and launched frequent attacks. At this point, the enemy dispatched agent Wang Jinbiao (played by Peng Hongjun) as an insider, attempting to ambush the Red Guards while also wanting to execute Han Ying. After hearing the news, Officer Zhang risked his life to rescue Han Ying, but unfortunately sacrificed himself. After Han Ying escaped and returned to her unit, she executed the traitor and worked with the main forces of the Red Army to eliminate the Baijihui and the security corps in one fell swoop. Ultimately, during the Second Domestic Revolutionary War, the Honghu Red Guards achieved numerous accomplishments in defending the red regime of the revolutionary base in Xiang-Exi. The film won the Best Music Award at the first Hundred Flowers Awards of "Popular Cinema" in 1962.
