In 1949, our People's Liberation Army responded to Chairman Mao's call to "cross the Yangtze and liberate all of China." They sharpened their weapons and prepared to cross the Yangtze River. Before the army crossed the river, Captain Li (played by Sun Daolin) was dispatched to lead a reconnaissance team to gather information on the enemy's river defenses. After receiving the orders, he quickly crossed the river with members Wu Laogui (played by Qi Heng), Zhou Changxi (played by Kang Tai), Yang Wei (played by Zhong Shuhuang), and Xiao Ma (played by Sun Yongping), and made contact with the guerrilla leader Liu Sijie (played by Li Lingjun).
