This semi-documentary depicts the life of a legendary Sicilian gangster leader, flashing back from the moment he was shot multiple times in 1950 to various segments of his earlier life. The film chronicles the war waged by Salvatore Giuliano's bandits against official police from 1945 to 1951, as well as his activities opposing the left, trade unions, and the Communist People's Party. The People's Party's May Day meeting in 1947 was disrupted by Giuliano's men.
