Mateo Blanco (played by Lluís Homar) was once a celebrated film director, but after losing his sight in a car accident, he changed his name to Harry Caine and lived a quiet life as a screenwriter. One day in 2008, a young man named Rey (played by Rubén Ochandiano) visits Harry, and Rey's idea for a film reopens the long-closed doors of Harry's memory. In 1994, Mateo was preparing to shoot a new film, and the beautiful girl Lena (played by Penélope Cruz) stood out during auditions. Lena is the secretary of a company owner, Ernest Martel (played by José Luis Gómez), and they maintain an ambiguous relationship that is both close and distant.
