The Eight-Nation Alliance enters Beijing, the court flees, and the national situation becomes chaotic. Wong Fei-hung (played by Zhao Wenzhuo) and his father Wong Kwan-ying (played by Liu Xun), his aunt (played by Wang Jingying), his disciple Liang Kuan (played by Mo Shaocong), and Ghost Foot Seven (played by Xiong Xinxin) head south to Fan Yu, intending to meet with his aunt (played by Guo Zhilin), Zhu Rourong (played by Zheng Zeshi), and Ya Cha Su (played by Guo Jinan). On the way, the master and disciple worry about a misunderstanding with pirates over grain at the southern rice granary; they only get to know each other after a fight. Wong Fei-hung helps them turn in the rice thieves, only to discover that the thieves are actually instigated by the local officer chief Xie Si (played by Zhang Tielin). It turns out that the Southern Sea pirates are taking advantage of the chaos, frequently acting without any officials in control in Fan Yu, forcing the local officers to resort to stealing for food supplies. Wong Fei-hung, grateful for the loyalty of the four, abandons his plan to go to Hong Kong and engages in continuous battles with local pirates such as One-eyed Ying, Zhang Yulin, and Zhang Baozai… This film is the fifth installment in the Wong Fei-hung series directed by Tsui Hark.
