Orphaned at a young age, Jane Eyre (Mia Wasikowska) lives with her aunt, facing bullying from her cousin (Craig Roberts) and indifference from her aunt (Sally Hawkins). As she grows older, she is sent to a strict church-run girls' school. Growing up in a cold, rigid environment, Jane does not become a psychologically twisted girl; instead, she becomes strong and self-reliant, accumulating remarkable knowledge and skills. As an adult, she becomes a governess at the aristocratic Thornfield Hall. The master of the house, Mr. Rochester (Michael Fassbender), first meets Jane during a horse-riding accident. As they get to know each other, Mr. Rochester realizes Jane's uniqueness and gradually falls in love with her. Jane also finds herself strongly attracted to Mr. Rochester, but strange occurrences at the mansion cast a shadow over their love... This film is adapted from the classic novel by British author Charlotte Brontë and is the 18th adaptation of this masterpiece to be brought to the big screen.
