After surviving life and death, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) enjoy all the privileges that come with being the champions of the 74th Hunger Games, but their relationship becomes awkward. Katniss cannot let go of her former boyfriend Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and even contemplates running away with him. As Katniss and Peeta gain increasing popularity among the people, their charade of being a couple enrages President Snow (Donald Sutherland), who teams up with a new game designer (Philip Seymour Hoffman) to initiate the "Quarter Quell," a special game held every 25 years. He demands that one male and one female champion from each district be drawn to participate, aiming to kill Katniss. To protect Katniss, Peeta replaces Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) as a contestant, and the "lovers" embark on their journey again. During the games, they make allies from different districts, and while Peeta continues to express his true feelings for Katniss, her attitude towards him starts to change. Unfortunately, things do not go as they expect; only conspiracies await them.
