The focus of the television series begins with the peaceful liberation of Beijing in 1949. It spans from the birth of the new China to the ongoing reform and opening-up policy today. This work uniquely presents a panoramic view of the glorious journey of the Republic over fifty years through biographical narratives. The "Heroes of the Battlefield" covers the history from the peaceful liberation of Beijing in 1949 to the reform and opening-up in the 1980s. This is the first time that a panoramic representation of the Republic's fifty-year glorious journey has been made through biographical narratives in film and television creation. Comrade Peng Zhen served as the first Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee from 1949 and later also held the position of Mayor until 1966. Over his 17 years in office, he dedicated himself to the construction and development of Beijing, making historically significant contributions. During this time, Comrade Peng also served as the Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee, assisting Comrade Deng Xiaoping in overseeing the Secretariat's work. He also held the positions of Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. As a member of the first generation of leadership, he contributed significantly and concretely to the construction and development of the new China, leaving a glorious page in its history. During the Cultural Revolution, Comrade Peng was persecuted and for a long time never lost faith in the party and the country's future. He continued to read diligently, contemplating China's future and destiny. After the downfall of the "Gang of Four," Comrade Peng served as the Director of the Legislative Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress, overseeing the formulation of a large number of laws and regulations, making outstanding contributions to social stability and reform and opening up. Later, Comrade Peng became the Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, doing considerable and profoundly significant work in China's legal system construction, becoming a founding figure in it. "Heroes of the Battlefield" not only aims to authentically showcase the brilliant and moving life of Comrade Peng Zhen but also artistically describes many lesser-known historical events and figures from the fifty years of new China. This gives the drama strong political significance while also being highly entertaining and intellectually enriching for a wide audience. Thus, it lays a solid foundation for striving to achieve a high unity of ideology and artistry in the show.
