In an apartment located in Katsushika, Tokyo, a highly decomposed body is discovered. Preliminary investigations by the police reveal that the deceased is Michiko Oyabukih from Shiga Prefecture, and her death is indeed a homicide. Detective Matsumiya (played by Junpei Mizobata) from the Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Department discovers that Oyabukih was in town to visit and watch the stage play of her high school friend Hiromi Asago (played by Nanako Matsushima). Although Asago has a solid alibi, a photograph with Kyoichiro Kaga (played by Hiroshi Abe) catches Matsumiya's attention. Meanwhile, near the apartment where Michiko was murdered, a charred body is found. An item at the scene excites Kaga immensely, as it is intricately related to his long-lost mother. The two cases, along with the missing persons, reconnect Asago and Kaga once again... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by renowned Japanese mystery writer Keigo Higashino.
