Julie (Kristy McNichol) is an actress who accidentally hits a dog with her car. Unable to find medical help and unwilling to abandon the injured animal, Julie ultimately decides to take the dog in. With the dog by her side, Julie feels a newfound sense of security. After witnessing the dog bravely fight off an intruder, she develops a strong trust and dependence on this courageous animal. As time passes, Julie discovers that her loyal dog exhibits an unusually strong aggression toward Black people. It turns out that in its early years, the dog underwent extremely cruel training intended to turn it into a weapon against Black individuals. To restore the dog’s gentle nature, Julie seeks the help of dog trainer Charlie (Samuel Fuller). After relentless efforts, Charlie's training finally begins to show results; unfortunately, disaster strikes.
