Due to a burglary case, young police officer Souichirou Kurihashi (played by Shunsuke Osako) meets the somewhat mysterious girl Chieko Yamuro (played by Misaki Saijo). In this case, Chieko uniquely lost a photo album, which causes her considerable worry, and Kurihashi promises to help her retrieve the lost item. Chieko works as an assistant at Hidaka Dental Clinic and has been involved in an illicit affair with the doctor, Hidaka. Soon, the photo album is returned to Kurihashi, who attempts to find Chieko again, only to discover that she has already left her job. As he searches, the true identity of Chieko gradually comes to light... This film is adapted from the renowned Japanese erotic novelist Jun'ichirou Tanizaki's novel of the same name, commemorating the hundredth anniversary of its publication. The novel "Daydream" has previously been adapted to the screen three times, all directed by the famous filmmaker Tetsuji Takechi. One of the film's directors, Kyoko Aizome, participated in the performances of both the 1980 and 1987 adaptations.
