The novelist Kim Hyoseop has never truly published a decent book. After a quarrel with someone, he is sentenced to prison. Feeling deeply inferior, he is constantly criticized by the outside world as a third-rate writer, and his life is very difficult. However, he falls in love with a married woman. Meanwhile, another unmarried woman is deeply in love with this novelist. The unmarried woman's love for the writer is unconditional; she was previously an editor at a publishing house, later worked at a cinema taking tickets, and holds multiple jobs simultaneously. When she goes on dates with the writer, she pays for the coffee, willingly lends him money, and helps him with his manuscripts. On the writer's thirty-fifth birthday, she brings a cake and gifts to his place to give him a surprise, but the writer scolds her for not calling him beforehand. At this moment, the married woman bursts out of the writer's house, and the writer rushes after her. The unmarried woman tells the writer that she is prepared to dedicate her life to him, but the writer clearly tells the unmarried woman that he deeply loves the married woman. On the street, he violently attacks the unmarried woman, venting his emotions, while her male colleague who was hiding nearby witnesses the scene and expresses his feelings for her. The unhappy unmarried woman then has a relationship with this male colleague.
