Jane (Katherine Heigl) and her family are on a flight to Nice, France, where her parents discuss her romantic life, much to her annoyance. In the elevator of a seaside hotel, Jane encounters the handsome Spencer (Ashton Kutcher) in swimwear, and they fall for each other at first sight. They agree to have dinner at a bar, but Jane's parents happen to pass by. To avoid their gaze, Jane hurriedly concocts a disgraceful tale about her father and keeps up the lie. However, as her feelings for Spencer grow, she eventually reveals the truth to him. Spencer, on the other hand, hides the fact that he is an assassin. Initially, Spencer planned to leave his life of crime behind, but his last task is to deal with Jane's father, who will be his future father-in-law, putting Spencer in a difficult position.
