Lieutenant Tuck Pendleton (Dennis Quaid) is impulsive and defiant of authority, but he is also the main pilot of the "Alpha Project," which develops miniaturized flight technology. Tuck's drunken antics lead to his reporter girlfriend Lydia (Meg Ryan) angrily leaving him, and on the same day, his work faces a setback when a group of robbers breaks into the research center, attempting to steal the miniaturized flight chip.
