In the early 1960s, Japan was rapidly reestablishing its position in the world after the heavy blows of World War II. In a small coastal town in Yokohama, the four Matsuzaki siblings and their guests were living ordinary lives. The 16-year-old sister, Umi (voiced by Masami Nagasawa), took care of everyone’s daily needs and traditionally raised a flag in the morning to wish for safe voyages. By chance, Umi met a boy named Toshi (voiced by Junichi Okada) from the school’s newspaper club, adding vibrant colors to her campus life. Meanwhile, with the Tokyo Olympics approaching, the old building "Latin Quarter," where Toshi and his group of friends resided, faced the threat of demolition. In order to protect their sacred ground, Toshi, Umi, and their companions joined forces. In the process, a hidden feeling began to quietly grow between them, but unexpected fate stood in their way... This film is adapted from the comic of the same name by Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsuro Sayama, published in a girls' magazine "Nakayoshi" from January to August 1980.
