Based on the light novel by Nagomu Torii, produced by Kyoto Animation, this is the first part of a two-part theatrical adaptation of the dark fantasy "Beyond the Boundary," which aired on television from October to December 2013. It reflects on the events surrounding the heroine, Mirai Kuriyama, depicted in the 12 episodes of the television series. Mirai Kuriyama is the last surviving member of a clan with a peculiar cursed blood, fighting as an "exorcist" against the aberrations known as "yōmu" that roam this world. Akihito Kanbara, born of both a human and a yōmu, has lived in solitude due to his rarity as a "half-yōmu." One day after school, their worlds drastically change when Mirai, about to jump off the school rooftop, encounters Akihito.
