Due to her father's preference for sons, Jeong-in (played by Shin Hye-sun) left home and became self-sufficient during her middle school years, cutting off contact with her family. Later, Jeong-in became a top defense attorney on her own. By chance, she discovers that her mother, Hwa-ja (played by Bae Jong-ok), who suffers from dementia, is suspected of murdering her father and has also harmed several innocent people.
