At an art auction held in Manhattan, USA, Van Gogh's original 2nd painting of the Sunflower series, once thought to be destroyed in World War II air raids, makes a stunning appearance. The wealthy advisor of the Suzuki conglomerate, Jiro Suzuki (voiced by Kōsei Tomita), swoops in and acquires it for a staggering price of $300 million. At a subsequent press conference, Suzuki announces his plan to gather Sunflower paintings from collectors around the world in Japan for a dream exhibition. To ensure the exhibition’s success, he hires a "Seven Samurai" team of seven experts, including Kogoro Mouri (voiced by Rika Takashima), exhibition planner Keiko Anderson (voiced by Yoshiko Sakakibara), and painting appraiser Natsumi Miyadai (voiced by Nana Eikura). However, the notorious Phantom Thief Kid (voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi) has his sights set on the painting from the beginning, causing chaos at the venue and nearly blowing up the transport plane in his quest to steal it.
