The special edition "AIR in Summer" was aired on BS-i on August 28 and September 4, 2005. The story of AIR "Summer" is included in the version from January 6, 2005, with the animated story being much shorter than that of the game, most of which has been cut or compressed. Due to its immense popularity during airing, a special edition "AIR in Summer" was decided to fill the gap of the original TV anime version. The story connects at the midpoint of the original TV version's episode 8, adding a lot of events that happen during the journey of Yuu, Kanata, and Riya as they search for their mother. This OVA contains all the content covered in the game's Summer chapter (which itself is a linear story without choices), and it is considered that this part is expressed more vividly than in the original game, adding much color to the entire animation.
